2006 Festival Program
Event 1: Grand Opening Concert - New Holland Baroque
Georgia Browne (baroque flute), Stephen Freeman (baroque violin), Margaret Caley (baroque violin), Nicole Forsyth (baroque viola), Louise King (baroque cello), and Huguette Brassine (harpsichord) present a program of Bach, Hasse, Fischer and Graun.
Event 2: Organ Recital - Bach Meets Buxtehude
Organist Christopher Wrench performs the works of Bach and Buxtehude to commemorate Bach’s legendary journey from Arnstadt to Lübeck.
Event 3: North German Baroque Cantatas
Mezzo-soprano Fiona Campbell joins with Anna McDonald (baroque violin), Margaret Caley (baroque violin), Nicole Forsyth (baroque viola), Daniel Yeadon (viola da gamba and baroque cello), and Neal Peres da Costa (harpsichord) in a concert featuring music by Buxtehude, Bach, Handel, and Telemann.
Event 4: The Coffee Cantata
A free dramatised performance of the Coffee Cantata, BWV 211 performed by Murray Winton (tenor), Greg McPhan (Schlendrian), Rebekah Engeler (Lieschen), Errol Russell (violin), Marion Barford (violin), Michael Stockwell (viola), Camilla Tafra (cello), Alex Bell (bassoon), Benjamin Thorn (flute), and Lena Schmalz (harpsichord).
Event 5: Violoncello Recital
Cellist Daniel Yeadon performs works by Bach and Gabrieli for solo cello.
Event 6: Lecture - The German “Agnus Dei” in Bach’s Passions and Cantatas
Director of the Real Bach Society, Andrew Koll, delivers a public lecture on the use of the German “Agnus Dei” from Martin Luther’s Deutche Messe in the works of Bach.
Event 7: Sirius Ensemble
Anna McDonald (baroque violin), Jane Gower (baroque bassoon) and Lars Ulrik-Mortensen (harpsichord) of Sirius Ensemble perform works by Telemann, Schmelzer, Schaffrath. Handel and Bach.
Event 8: The Goldberg Variations
EphenStephen premiere their original arrangement of Bach’s Goldberg Variations.
Event 9: Grand Finale Concert - Australian Baroque Brass
Anna Sandstrom (soprano) and David Drury (organ) join Australian Baroque Brass in a program of J. S. Bach, C. P. E. Bach, Telemann, Caldara, Handel, Altenburg and Philidor. John Foster (natural trumpet), Peter Miller (natural trumpet), Joshua Clarke (natural trumpet), Matthew Manchester (natural trumpet), and John Douglas (timpani).
Event 10: Festival Evensong
Bach’s sacred music performed in the context for which it was written. Featuring St Peter’s Anglican Cathedral Choir, Inge Southcott, Chris Hokin, Greg McPhan, Graeme Maddox, Errol Russell, Marian Barford, Michael Stockwell, Annie Chapman, Sue Metcalfe, Xenia Schmalz, Lena Schmalz, and Colin Scholl.
